Mary Alice Queiros

1929-2013

Bio

“• When the City of Brooksville purchased a

bank building for it’s new City Hall, there

were a lot of blank walls.

• Mary Alice moved to Brooksville in

retirement and immediately began

beautifying the community.

• Mary Alice developed the City Hall Art

Gallery (now called the Uptown Art

Gallery) on the first and second floors of

the building and then managed the shows

that brought new art continually to City

Hall.

• She was also the driving force behind the

“Mural Project,” bringing large scale

Historic murals to downtown Brooksville

and helped select the artists for each piece.

She eventually helped seven murals come

to life.

• Named 2005 Great Brooksvillian”
