Mabel Sims

A descendent of the O’Neal-St. Clair families, in 1993 Mable began presenting family artifacts and stories to the community and dubbed the exhibition “History on Wheels.” Her audiences have ranged from preschoolers at Head Start, to Florida University and college students. In 2002, she spoke at the National Preservation Conference and was named “2002 Emerging Preservation Leader.”Her Great-Great Uncle Lem Sincair, 2007 Great Brooksvillian, is featured on the Livery Stable mural in town and Mable provided the historical information for the mural. Mable portrays Aunt Lizzie Washington at Chinsegut Hill, bringing life to Lizzie’s extraordinary story. She is currently working to have a Cracker Home placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
