Bio

“Gail contributed many hours to community efforts and boards.  Gail grew up in Brooksville and graduated from Hernando High School, she went on to St. Petersburg Junior College then, to Florida Southern where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha.  While a member with Zeta Tau Alpha she was awarded the first outstanding Zeta Tau Alpha member.  She would continue to work in the family business, A. G. Fridy’s until it closed in 1980.  While building a career at the Lykes Memorial Hospital, she served on the Board of Trustees from 1974 until 1982 where she served as Chairwoman in 1975 and 1980.  She then continued on the building and grounds committee for eight years until the new hospital wing was dedicated in 1983.

Gail’s community contributions didn’t stop with the Lykes Memorial, she was on planning committees for the City of Brooksville for events, she helped organize fund raising for the Quarry, a City owned golf course at Bud McKethan Park and local sports teams.  She is among the founding members of the Hernando Heritage Museum and the Brooksville Raid Civil War reenactment and served on the Hernando Healthcare Foundation dedicated to providing scholarships to students in nursing program.

Later, Gail served as Republican State Committee Woman of Hernando County and assumed campaign leadership roles for many Local, State and Federal campaigns for more than twenty years. Gail transformed candidate outreach by creating a methodology targeting absentee voters, a model that has since been adopted throughout the State of Florida. Through all of these efforts, Gail worked hand-in-hand with many other volunteers and friends.

Gail loved her community and bringing people together.  Together with support of many people within the community, Gail’s efforts toward fund raising, projects, committees, board membership and event planning will have ever lasting impression on the City of Brooksville and the community.“

In 2019, Gail was awarded “Great Brooksvillian” by the City of Brooksville.
